OSCE’s role recalled during Italian Republic Day celebrations in Vienna.

L’Amb. Baldi legge il suo intervento

On 2 June, on the occasion of Italy’s Republic Day celebrations, Ambassador Stefano Baldi, Permanent Representative of Italy to the OSCE, together with the Ambassador of Italy to Austria, Stefano Beltrame, and the Permanent Representative of Italy to the United Nations, Alessandro Cortese, hosted a reception at Palais Sternberg, home of the Italian Cultural Institute in Vienna.

Many Permanent Representatives to the OSCE, other members of the diplomatic community, and Italian officials working at the Organization attended the reception.

In his speech, Ambassador Baldi recalled Italy’s commitment to the Organization at a difficult time marked by the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Amb. Baldi emphasised that “the OSCE remains an invaluable platform for dialogue”, and mentioned the activities it continues to carry out “through the appreciated work of the Secretariat, of the field missions and of the Autonomous Institutions like ODIHR – the Office for democratic institutions and human rights”.

As part of the celebrations, an exhibition on Perugino, “The Best Master of Italy,” created by Ambassador Stefano Baldi on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the great Umbrian painter’s death, was inaugurated on the premises of Palais Sternberg. The exhibition, which chronicles the artist’s life and œuvre with a variety of different panels, will be open to the public until 30 June.
