The Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Benedetto Della Vedova, presented today the priorities of the Italian Chairmanship of the Council of Europe’s Committee of Ministers to the Permanent Council of the OSCE: recommitting to our shared principles and values; enhancing women’s empowerment and the rights of children and adolescents, promoting youth policies while fighting discrimination; building a people-centered future.
“The OSCE and the Council of Europe – Undersecretary of State Della Vedova said – share a common vocation to fostering dialogue and collaboration and building a body of commitments and rules to ensure peace and security, while keeping true to the OSCE comprehensive approach to security. Italy attaches the outmost importance to the cooperation between the two organizations, and is committed to enhancing and advancing such cooperation at every occasion within the framework of its Presidency.”
The presentation of the priorities and activities of the Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe to the Permanent Council of the OSCE is part of the constant collaboration and regular consultations between the two organizations (centered in four priority areas: fight against terrorism, fight against trafficking in human beings, promotion of tolerance and fight against discrimination, protection of the rights of persons belonging to national minorities).
