{"id":5563,"date":"2026-04-02T16:55:08","date_gmt":"2026-04-02T14:55:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/delegazioneosce.esteri.it\/?page_id=5563"},"modified":"2026-04-08T18:11:52","modified_gmt":"2026-04-08T16:11:52","slug":"italy-for-the-protection-of-minors-in-armed-conflicts","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/delegazioneosce.esteri.it\/en\/litalia-e-losce\/italian-initiatives\/italy-for-the-protection-of-minors-in-armed-conflicts\/","title":{"rendered":"Italy and the protection of minors in armed conflicts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Italy pays particular attention to the protection of children in armed conflicts (<strong>Children and Armed Conflict \u2013 CAAC) <\/strong>and has co-chaired with Belgium since 2022 a special &#8220;Group of Friends&#8221; (<strong>GoF<\/strong>) in which Albania, Norway and Poland also take part, aimed at maintaining a high level of attention on the consequences of conflicts on children and strengthening the role of the OSCE in this area.<\/p>\n<p>Among the most recent initiatives, the Group of Friends &#8220;Children and Armed Conflict&#8221; organized in November 2025 an introductory course on the mandate of the UN Special Representative for the CAAC agenda (SRSG-CAAC), which saw a wide and participatory participation of delegates from the political, military and human dimensions of the OSCE, confirming the breadth and transversality of the theme.<\/p>\n<p>The initiative pursued a threefold objective: to strengthen awareness of the CAAC agenda and mandate through a deepening of the international regulatory framework on the rights of the child; Explain the operational tools and current limits available for the fulfilment of the mandate of the SRSG-CAAC, as well as explore concrete opportunities for co-operation between the OSCE and the SRSG-CAAC office.<\/p>\n<p>Several concrete initiatives have been proposed to strengthen the integration of the CAAC agenda into the OSCE, including: inclusion of the topic on the agenda of the Permanent Council; integration of the theme in the three Committees (political-military, economic-environmental and human) and in the Forum for Security Cooperation (FSC); inclusion of experts on child protection in the lists of the Moscow Mechanism; adoption of specific mandates for OSCE field missions with resources dedicated to child protection and integration of the theme into the Warsaw Conference on the Human Dimension (WHDC).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Italy pays particular attention to the protection of children in armed conflicts (Children and Armed Conflict \u2013 CAAC) and has co-chaired with Belgium since 2022 a special &#8220;Group of Friends&#8221; (GoF) in which Albania, Norway and Poland also take part, aimed at maintaining a high level of attention on the consequences of conflicts on children [&hellip;]","protected":false},"author":13,"featured_media":0,"parent":759,"menu_order":8,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"footnotes":""},"class_list":["post-5563","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/delegazioneosce.esteri.it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/5563","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/delegazioneosce.esteri.it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/delegazioneosce.esteri.it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/page"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/delegazioneosce.esteri.it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/13"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/delegazioneosce.esteri.it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=5563"}],"version-history":[{"count":3,"href":"https:\/\/delegazioneosce.esteri.it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/5563\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":5624,"href":"https:\/\/delegazioneosce.esteri.it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/5563\/revisions\/5624"}],"up":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/delegazioneosce.esteri.it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/759"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/delegazioneosce.esteri.it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=5563"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
